Rehabilitative Exercise
"You’re a Chiropractor, why are you performing exercises?" The simple answer to this is because there are multiple reasons a patient can be in pain.
Rehabilitative exercise is aimed towards increasing strength in specific muscles to help stabilize joints. For a joint or joint system to be considered fully functional with proper movement, it needs full range of motion and the muscular system around the joint to be strong in order to stabilize it. When either of these two are an issue, it will cause the joint to over-compensate by either recruiting additional muscles, changing the movement pattern all together, and over working in joints above and below.
In conclusion, at Arkansas Muscle & Joint our approach is to determine what is causing the joint dysfunction and apply the necessary treatment to restore proper joint biomechanics.
